Bakker Spalding won’t be sitting still this autumn. The largest garden company in Europe is in search of the most beautiful garden photo in the UK. The theme of Bakker’s third photo competition this year is ‘summer garden’, and from now on everybody can send in their best picture via the Bakker Spalding website. This year, the photo competition has an extra celebratory touch, as Bakker Spalding marks its 70th anniversary!
The competition runs until September 30th, so contestants have plenty of time to take their best summer garden photo and send it in. Moreover they can ask their friends and family to vote on their photo to improve their chances of winning.
Bakker Spalding will then shortlist the five photos with the most votes, from which the winner will be selected. Bakker Spalding’s last photo competition received a huge 700 entries across Europe. The current photo competition runs in England, France, Italy, Hungary and Holland.
The winner from each country will receive a flower bulb packet with 400 spring flowering tulips, hyacinths, narcissi, crocuses, irises, alliums, anemones and ranunculus.
“Seventy years ago, this company was established because of flower bulbs,” says Jacques Bakker, owner of Bakker Spalding. “After the war my father Piet Bakker started sending gift packets of flower bulbs. We thought it was a nice idea to give away another bulb packet as a prize, 70 years later. Also, the winner will not only have a beautiful summer garden but also a colourful spring garden!”
