On Friday 22nd February, Oakleaf Enterprise will be holding a special evening with gardening celebrity, Monty Don.
The renowned gardener, broadcaster and writer will talk about all things green in the sophisticated setting of the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel in Guildford at 6:30pm.
Monty says: “Working with nature in a very positive, direct way has a profoundly healing effect on both mind and body. It centres you and enables the individual to tune into a rhythm that allows for ebb and flow. This both releases and nurtures resources so that people can gradually help themselves by tapping into them. There is also the very practical effect of having to look after things be it through watering, thinning, pruning, harvesting. You are needed and are part of something much bigger than yourself and this has the effect of empowering you.”
A magnificent auction including prizes from industry specialist companies such as Stihl and Henchman will be held on the night.
Tickets are £65 per person, to include Monty’s talk, a delicious meal, welcome drink, and some magical entertainment.
Funds raised from this fabulous evening will go to Oakleaf Enterprise, a Guildford based charity supporting people affected by mental illness.
Monty believes people should support charities like Oakleaf because: “…they do work that would otherwise not be done. The greatest barrier against mental health is shame, guilt and secrecy. No one should ever be ashamed or frightened of mental illness but everyone should be aware of it and do what they can to reduce its effect.”
Special room rates will be available for those wishing to stay the night.
