Donald Sprigg, 62, a keen naturist who enjoys gardening nude has had neighbours complain about seeing him naked and will now have to go to trial for outraging public decency. He has denied the charges that his weeding and digging in the nude cause alarm, distress or harassment to his fellow residents near his home in Gloucestershire.
He insists that he only strips when his neighbors are not home and the practicing nudist does not commit acts of indecency while working naked in the garden. The complaints he says come from neighbors that live over 150 metres away from the house and they filmed him with a long distance lens from their balcony.
His solicitor says that Mr. Sprigg has done nothing wrong. He is a practicing nudist and only does this in the confines of his own back yard. He has also said that to film him that far away they must have a powerful lens since he thinks it would be difficult to determine if he is nude or not from such a distance. He claims his client has done all he can to take reasonable care that he will not offend anyone by his actions.
