Eco-friendly garden features

To those who want to involve green technologies in their life, the garden is one of the best places to do this. There are many features in the garden that could become more environmentally friendly with just a little bit of work on your part. Water features are a common thing to see in many gardens and they consume electricity constantly which is not good for the environment.

One of the best ways to make your water feature more environmentally friendly is to equip it with a solar panel. This will mean that it doesn’t require any electricity from the mains to run and also battery packs available meaning it can store electricity for when it is cloudy. There are many different types available and their costs are wide-ranging, you will save money with this device as it will reduce the amount of your energy bill.

In recent years the number of solar powered water features has become greater and many people are buying popular types including waterfalls, bird baths and small fountains. The range and of different water features is wide and you will find some that are perfect for a small corner of your garden and others that require significantly more space. The materials they are made out of also vary greatly and you will find some made out of copper, bamboo, slate or terracotta.

Different fountains have different features and we mentioned above that it is possible to buy a battery feel water feature. Someone already come with this and some will not have the facility to use one. There are also certain water features that have the option of connecting to the mains as a backup in case they don’t have enough electricity, unfortunately this largely negates the benefits of having a solar powered fountain in first place.

Depending on your preference and the size of your fountain, the location of the solar panel will be a factor in your decision. If you don’t want people to see the solar panel, then you can put it in a location away from the fountain and run a wire to the pump. Other fountains, which are typically smaller, have the solar panel mounted on the device so there is no need to run a wire.

Lights are found on many fountains and they can be a good addition to the device as it will allow you to see at in the night. Of course, if you are going to be running the fountain at night then you are going to need a battery pack or a backup connection to mains electricity.

We mentioned that the costs of solar powered water features are varied, and fortunately there are prices to suit everyone. What they are made of, and the size will determine how much they cost and additional features such as lights and batteries will also affect the price. Before you go to buy your fountain decide which features you want and set yourself a maximum budget
